Jennifer Esposito has found that cloth diapering has allowed her to make new friendships and save money in other parts of her life. Let’s get to know this cloth diapering mom a bit more:
Q. How have cloth diapers changed your life?
A. I heard about cloth diapering from my friends online. Cloth diapering has opened the door to lots of conversations and new friendships. I started with FuzziBunz Perfect Size diapers and Prefolds with covers. After a few months of using both, I decided to switch to all FuzziBunz and I’m happy with that choice.
Ever since using cloth diapers, I started to look for other ways to save money, recycle and not produce as much trash. We stopped buying paper plates and cups and use regular, washable dishes and cups. We use a dishtowel to dry our hands instead of paper towels. I was surprised with how much this changed our garbage output! We also recycle.
I’m also not as afraid of poop. I’ve been potty training my middle daughter and I’m not throwing out underwear if she has a BM! I just get the diaper sprayer out and clean it up. Same thing if it gets on her clothes. I’m amazed with how much using the diaper sprayer to clean the diapers/underwear/clothes has helped keep them stain free!
Q. What is your funniest diapering changing, poop or pee story?
A. I put my son in the pack n play when I had to run out the door to get my older daughter from the bus. In the two minutes I was gone, my son ripped off his diaper that had POOP in it and got it all over the pack n play! I found it everywhere. I realized how important it is to use diapers with snaps only!
Q. What do you find most rewarding about motherhood?
A. One of the most rewarding parts of motherhood is watching my children grow up. I love to see them explore the word and it’s so fun to share their excitement! I like seeing their personalities develop and hearing their ideas when they begin to talk. It’s precious to hear my oldest one tell me stories or memories of things we’ve done. It makes me so proud to know how much she enjoys the things we do for her.
Q. What was the last movie you watched / or last book you read? Tell us about it.
A. I really enjoy reading magazines that have craft ideas or baking ideas for kids. I enjoy reading books by Nicholas Sparks and romantic novels. Recently I started to read Smokin’ Seventeen by Janet Evanovich. It’s the first time I picked up one of her books and her writing flows nicely. We also watch a lot of movies as a family and my kids love all the “Toy Story” movies!
Q. If you had 24 hours of freedom to do anything you wanted (and money wasn’t an object), what would you do?
A. I would go shopping for myself, watch a musical on Broadway, go to a spa and then relax with a glass of wine while reading in a bubble bath!
