Monday Mama: Amanda Jones Says That Pocket Style Cloth Diapers Work Best for Her Little Soaker

Amanda Jones is mom to a son (9 months)! She loves cloth diapers and carries some interesting “survival” items in her diaper bag. Let’s get to know this cloth diapering mom a bit more:

Q. How have cloth diapers changed your life?

A. I started cloth diapering when my son was 3 months old. I tried about 9 different systems and brands, and found the FuzziBunz pocket style cloth diapers work best for our little soaker! Cloth diapering is such a savings! Not only on the pocketbook but also the landfills. Each diaper that DOESN’T end up in a landfill is a triumph! I am also hoping that the rumors of early potty training are true for cloth diapering kiddos! It’s also fun to talk to people about CDing! They look at you like you’re crazy most of the time, but I sit and look the same way at them for NOT trying it!!

Q. The first thing I do when I wake up is…

A. I make a cup of free-trade organic shade-grown coffee. I (sometimes) get to enjoy it before the baby gets up. Then I change his diaper and make our breakfast!

Q. No matter how much time it takes, I always…

A. Read to my son and tell him I love him.

Q. The most unusual thing in my diaper bag or purse is…

A. A headlamp! LOL. Yes, like the kind you use for camping. It’s a Black Diamond LED headlamp and must be a habit from my days as a wildland firefighter. I pack all kinds of ‘what if’ essentials!

Q. If I could live in one outfit for the rest of my life, it would be…

A. A pair of jeans that fit just right, a nursing tank top, a comfortable tee shirt, a fleece jacket with plenty of pockets, and my mukluks. Oh, and merino wool socks.
